Painting Through Disability
LIVING WITH MUSCULAR WASTING AND AUTISM, CREATING FOR MY SOUL
Hello, I’m Cassidy June, a 36-year-old artist based in Alberta, Canada.
My journey as an artist began early in life and continues to thrive through adaptive techniques and tools. From streaming my art from a bed setup out of necessity to utilizing specialized aids like fat round pencil grips on my brushes and an acrylic wrist bar to manage hand fatigue, I’ve found innovative ways to maintain my artistic expression. My workspace includes an over-the-bed desk equipped with rollers, supporting my computer and essential streaming gear, alongside a Streamdeck programmed not only for streaming but also for communication and medical alerts to my wife.
In addition to traditional painting, I delve into digital and pixel art, facilitated by ergonomic tools that enhance my workflow. My artistry is deeply intertwined with my identity as a practicing pagan witch, drawing inspiration from Apollo and Lillith, and supported by the loving presence of my wife and our two cherished cats, Delilah and Matilda.
